If you’re in need of hit men who use music to kill their victims, look no further than Unsane. I mean, their music is unrelentingly brutal, pounding noise, with just enough of a “twang” to make it suitable for long road trips or tailgate parties outside an Extreme Championship Wrestling match. Just imagine Foghat covers played by Napalm Death.
Unsane are one of the pioneers of extreme, noisy, ugly, pounding hard rock fused with the more brutal elements of metal. On Occupational Hazard, their ten-year anniversary album, they emphasize, as usual, a painful and unforgiving world (“Committed,” “Take In the Stray,” “Wait To Lose”), as well as the generally lousy conditions of life in the late 20th century, provided you live near a big, industrialized, grimy city (“Hazmat,” “Lead,” “Scam”).
