The Prissteens

Scandal, Controversy & Romance

Almo Sounds

If you can imagine the Shangri-La’s with screaming guitars, then you have a pretty good idea of the Prissteens’ sound. Most of their songs are about boys or fights, or fight over boys, or fights with boys. These girls hearken back to a time when it wasn’t cool for girls to be tough and rebellious. The Prissteens’ record is a fun, retro treat. But it really just exists on the surface, with its bad girl attitude and wall of sound harmonies; in reality, the Lunachicks or Tribe 8 would beat up these girls and their Sha-Na-Na boyfriends. But in all fairness, it is a fun record if you can turn your mind off and just enjoy their retro pop songs.
