It wasn’t until the second time through this CD that I finally figured out what I didn’t like about it: the beat. The two guitars provide a great dual layer of sound; the bass lines are utilitarian but adequate; the vocals are muss-mouthed but typical. It’s the beat that ruins everything. The drummer is actually quite good, but the beat is in that narrow band between fast and slow. It makes me want to speed up the deck somehow.
