Sulfur

Delirium Tremens

Goldenfly

Here I am last month, spouting my mouth about the evil carnival nature of the fruit of the Cop Shoot Cop tree, and here comes Sulfur, featuring David Ouimet and a wonderfully perverse merry-go-round on the cover. Sulfur’s distinguishing characteristics are its solid use of unusual instruments and Michele Amar’s vocal approach, as attention-getting as that unstable girlfriend after a night of heavy drinking. She plays a mean saw, too.

This is dark stuff, but intriguing for its recognized delusions of lightness. You can tell the accordion’s occasional musical smile is painted on, and badly. Goldenfly Records, P.O. Box 1130, Canal St. Station, New York, NY 10013; sulfur@cybernex.net
