This CD represents some of Zappa’s earliest work, much of it in a co-producer role alongside Paul Buff, a musical mechanic and one of Zappa’s earliest production mentors. It’s interesting in a historical context, with good liner notes by Bryan Thomas. The cover is misleading; it shows a later picture of Zappa. This is not the Mothers-era, or later Zappa that we all know and love, these were done during the whole early sixties surf-craze period, when there was a virtual plethora of one-hit wonders being released. A die-hard Zappa collector or student would probably want to have this. Most of us wouldn’t. Del-Fi Records, P.O. Box 69188, Los Angeles, CA 90069; http://www.del-fi.com
