Strange Ways
Another disc from German synth-pop favorite Wolfsheim. For those familiar with the past works, like Dreaming Apes and Popkiller , it’s pretty much more of the same. Which is not to say that it isn’t good.
Infectious tunes that are a blend of pop and EBM (that’s Electro-Body-Music) sort of remind one of a Depeche Mode with balls. Only one track, “Kunstliche Welten,” is sung in German. The rest, with the exception of the instrumental “E,” are crooned in perfect pop English.
Highlight tracks include “Heroin, She Said,” “It’s Hurting For the First Time,” and “Once in a Lifetime.” This disc seems to lack any of the somber tunes unlike previous releases. Hell, every track is so darn full of hooks to catch you with, they’re all good. Fans will not be disappointed.
