Visionstain

Me Flat

Silverdish

The proverbial “they” say that there’s never too much of a good thing. However, after a couple listens to Visionstain’s Me Flat , the sensible might find that “good” in too huge of a dosage. The good, in Visionstain’s case, is its marriage of Weezer’s uber-pop hooks, Polvo’s mathematical angularity, and Dinosaur Jr.’s jilted-man lyrical stance. But after 46 minutes of such fare, the end result just becomes a bit too much, often compelling the listener to wonder when the album’s going to end – in most instances, not necessarily a major flaw to the band’s (and aforementioned ones’) fans, but for those less resilient, such nagging could become a veritable caveat emptor.
