Hey, look what happened to disco. It sounds kinda the same to me, but I can actually tolerate the Gentle People’s particular brand. “Shopping World” is a fast-paced ditty suitable for maxing out your credit card. Other tracks (some in French!) bring to mind the minimalist casiotone revolution going on in Europe. “Underwater,” with its undulating bass line, washes of analog trickery and overall B-52s-meets-Stereolab feel is a fave. Faboo-loso!
