Flash Fictions

Witchcraft.

I was in the elevator, feeling old, and pushing buttons for all the

floors divisible by three, when an ambiguously

famous sounding voice interrupted my fun. It spoke of capturing the

moment, of finding the right box and rope to set the

trap. The elevator began to shake, and malt and other Dairy Queen

delights. The voice told me that moments triple their value

in just a few years, and despite some risk of heavy tax liability, moments

are the best investment around. I had just realized

that moments are like desserts, except for the spelling, when the elevator

soon stopped on the twelfth floor, craftily avoiding

superstition by about four meters.
