The Young Dubliners

Red

Higher Octave Music

“Bohrain,” the first track on Red, is a traditional, Celtic jam that would be right at home blaring out the windows of a rough-and-tumble Irish Pub, complete with people dancing and hoisting frosty pints of ale. The two original members, Keith Roberts and Paul O’Toole, are originally from Dublin but met while playing in LA. The instrumental songs on Red are outstanding, but the Young Dubliners aren’t half bad singers/songwriters, either, as heard on “Red,” “Fisherman’s Blues,” and the ballad “Apart.” TYD incorporate their Celtic influences into a style of modern rock similar to bands like Counting Crows and Widespread Panic, which certainly makes for an interesting listening experience.
