Polaris Mine

Lists Of Things

Beatville

Imagine a more upbeat sounding Radiohead with a bit of Weezer mixed in, and you’ve got Polaris Mine. A lot of different styles are being thrown around at once, and that makes this an interesting album. The songs have intricate bass with sometimes emo sounding guitar and vocals. The rolling drumbeats and quick moving sections keep this from becoming emo, though. The first track, “P.G.O.A.T.” is my favorite, probably because of the surprise of Polaris Mine’s style. Track three starts out with rock guitar mixed in with light sections, and the contrast keeps you interested. At times, I just wanted to close my eyes and relax, and other parts kept me listening for what would happen next. The CD and liner notes are confusing because they’ve got a bunch of lists of things. Check this out if you’re into innovative music that isn’t too heavy.
