Pleasant Grove

Last Beat

Once again, I hear Pavement. Mostly in the vocals, but that voice has a strong style. The music is lower, almost folksy, almost country, with a heavy shadow edge. Mellow, but not quite depressing, though it could be. Some sparse instrumentation at times lends to the oceanic flow, a shaker and bass heavy guitar against an introspective vocal line. At times swelling up to touch the sky, or that ache you feel when you’re stuck on the ground just trying to reach that high. It’s still indie rock, but really, without so much rock. Only six songs, and you just know you want to hear more.
