Laurèll

Laurèll is another in the seemingly endless parade of singers from the Kate Bush branch by way of the Enya tributary. Her disc contains half a dozen songs that all sound vaguely familiar, yet are instantly forgettable. Nothing about the record is fresh, down to the supposed Celtic mysticism interlaced through the project. The girl has a nice voice, but this record, with lyrics like “The treasure of Camelot is pried from its prison / Merlin, I know you can see me / Raise my claim up high” might fly with the Ren Fest crowd, but leaves the rest of us a bit clammy.
