The Go-Betweens

Friends of Rachel Worth

Jetset

This one comes in like a young and innocent, even fairly happy Lou Reed, with very simple songs with sweet sentiments. Very clear and simple arrangements, clean guitars, bass, non-assuming drum work. Beachy songs about waves, surf magazines, slightly melancholy lost loves, beaches, all mostly with a da da da feel. These are the least angry and confused surfer songs I’ve heard in quite some time. The Beach Boys great nephews-in-law without any harmony arrangements. Nice, pleasant, homey.
