Chris Lee

Misra

A near-perfect marriage of indie pop sensibility and blue-eyed soul, Chris Lee’s self-titled debut is a striking and mature piece of work. Lee’s gorgeous, achingly-soulful voice is the centerpiece of the album’s simple, largely acoustic tracks. And that’s all Lee needs – his voice gives the songs enough power and emotion that they don’t need a lot of flash or dressing. Favorites include “Thom’s Bells,” “Angel C,” and “I Can’t Make Love to You Anymore,” but the whole album is elegant and beautiful. My only complaint is that at eight tracks, it’s too short! Please, Mr. Lee, can I have some more?
