Poor Rich Ones

Happy Happy Happy

Five One

The U.S. debut from Norway’s Poor Rich Ones is an album full of joy and melancholy. Airy and floating ethereal rock with ties to Sarah McLachlan’s moodier moments and Radiohead’s drifts into space-like fantasy. I can see them touring alongside Coldplay, and creating even more expansive and expressive music with every new release. Hints of electronica break up the melody at times, but not in a distracting way, and the voice croons with an edge of an accent against the arena rock drums and full on guitar play. The pop melodic songwriting stands out with driving rhythms that just take you away on a soft glide.
