Natalie Wattré Band

Break

Swirly Girl

Where to start? The Natalie Wattré Band’s album Break is undoubtedly a labor of love, but love and passion sometimes is not enough to make a good record. There are some talented people working on the record, too. Natalie Wattré’s big, somewhat gravelly voice might make for some really good songs, but here, trying for some kind of unholy Indigo Girls/Linda Perry/Alanis Morrisette/Tori Amos melange, it just becomes ponderous. The whole project just buckles under its own weight, making it virtually impossible for the uninitiated listener to get into the songs or really care about trying.
