Lit

Atomic

RCA

Lit’s first album after their big commercial success is sort of lackluster. I don’t know if they just gave up or if this is their new direction, but someone in that band better get excited about something quick. The album starts out all right, with pop-punk ditties about girls that don’t sound immature or bratty like the usual pop-punk fare. A couple of tracks feature a bit of surf guitar, which I totally dig. After that, though, Atomic dies a slow, painful death, and sounds more like watered down Everclear at parts. My roommate commented, “This song is so lame!” at track five, “Everything’s Cool,” and that’s a pretty accurate assessment. All in all, Atomic is a decent but disappointing album.
