Swedish thrash metal outfit Corporation 187 perform a more biting version of what grandfather Slayer and aunty Kreator used to do back in the day. Adding death and black to the mix (not just vocally), as well as a healthy dose of progressive metal, the five-piece are technically superior to their ancestors. Yet despite being far more intricate, they lack the plain scariness of angry old-school thrash.
Perfection in Pain is a melodic, fluid release, performed with hunger and full frontal attack. Although the genuinely disturbing aspects are sorely missed, Corporation 187 prove thrash is still very much alive, regardless of so much evidence to the contrary.
