Shelf Life
The Doctor gazed out across the lunar surface through the stained glass windows of the church. His face was still creased with inner pain. He was talking to the comatose Ace as the rest of the humans looked on, or perhaps he was talking to himself.
‘War,’ he muttered. ‘Not good for anybody. Nobody wins. Nobody ever wins. You have such a hard time looking after the tactics that little details, individual lives escape you. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just a pawn in some vaster game.’
