Why Kucinich doesn’t count
Because more than ever in the past 25 years, Democrats cannot afford to lose the White House. There’s a mass of voters–many of them Dean supporters– who are ready to support the man who looks like he can get it back for them, and Kucinich is not that man.
Clark might be that man, and I’m impressed every time I see Edwards–though he just can’t seem to get a national profile. Not quite sure why Kerry isn’t that man, but I know all too well why Lieberman isn’t.
Gore might have been that man–actually, he was (don’t get me started)–but he stayed out of it this time, wisely, I think. 2004 is probably the crucial election of my lifetime, and I’m only 32.
