Can men be feminists? In her blog Marching Orders, Amy Richards says we not only can, but we need to–not just for the sake of women but for ourselves.
“In the same way that it has more impact if I, a white, straight person say “that’s not funny” to a racist or homophobic joke, men have the power to point out sexism in a way that can’t be reduced to personal politics. Though that perspective continues to serve a unique purpose, the current approach to the feminist/man question is that men need to be feminists as much as feminism needs them.”
