(Not) Rappin’ Rodney
I can’t say Rodney Dangerfield was ever one of my favorite comedians. But I do have a soft spot in my heart for a couple of his films.
Caddyshack is generally named as the standout film in his career, and rightly so, but I’ve always been more personally fond of Back To School. It has a combination of a solid script (all the more surprising for coming from seven credited writers) and a strong supporting cast that is quite winning.
And “Rappin’ Rodney” was a great novelty record of the ’80s (my two favorite lines: “Hey! This isn’t Stardust!” and “The drummer carries the melody…”).
