The Sound of the Crowd

a slightly butcher Belgium?

Via Andrew Sullivan’s Daily Dish, the UK columnist Mark Steyn has said he’ll give up his column if Kerry wins. I’ve read bloggers who think that would be a fine bonus, Sullivan seems to think it would be a shame.

I haven’t read enough Steyn to have an opinion on it one way or another; I do love this quote, though–

“Were America to elect John Kerry president, it would be seen around the world as a repudiation not just of Bush and of Iraq but of the broader war. It would be a declaration by the people of American unexceptionalism – that they are a slightly butcher Belgium; they would be signing on to the wisdom of conventional transnationalism.”

Sullivan’s also got some potentially good news coming out of Ohio, in that same link.
