- There’s a favorite Doonesbury strip of mine that ran back when Ronald Reagan was running against Carter. The Republican B.D. smugly tells his Democratic housemates Mark and Mike he feels good because he woke up that morning realizing there’s an excellent chance Reagan would be the next President.
