- Want to see a Republican circling round the truth that their president is a bad, hateful con man? Read this opinion piece by Peggy Noonan. Noonan is the kind of Republican who gets really misty-eyed about Ronald Reagan, and shakes her head in wonderment at his great wit. While turning a blind eye to the fact that wit was on loan from movies he’d seen.
But about Bush the second, she merely shakes her head. She can’t come out and say it, but read between the lines: She knows.
