Cheap shots and righteous indignation
Ok, here is an MSNBC article about Condi Rice & the Democrats “dueling” over Iraq straegy at her confirmation hearing. Excerpts follow with my comments (in brackets and italicized.)
(First, at the top of the article we have a picture with the following caption.)
“Secretary of State nominee Condoleezza Rice, left, began her confirmation hearing Tuesday with Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., at her side. Feinstein is a friend from Rice’s years in California.”
(You know, I remember hearing an exchange about non-biodegradable tea bags when I lived in California that went something like this:
“That bag’ll be here long after we’re gone.”
“Didn’t we used to say that about Dianne Feinstein?”)</i>
“In her opening statement, Rice said: “We must use American diplomacy to help create a balance of power in the world that favors freedom. And the time for diplomacy is now.”
(Oh, the time for diplomacy is now. You know, some might have said the time for diplomacy was before you sent over a thousand servicemen and women to their deaths on a false hope. And helped the spread of anti-American terrorism by attacking a country that was (all together) of no threat to us…whatsoever. But no, I guess the time for diplomacy is after you’ve done all that.)
