Accidents in the land of the free
One or two of the progressive bloggers are starting to salivate at the idea that “Jeff Gannon” could be the start of this administration’s Watergate. As much fun as I’m having with the scandal, I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
Because, at the time of Watergate, they had things we don’t have now. An opposition congress is one. As this editorial points out, editors and publishers who were willing to stand with their reporters against the cudgels of Washington is another.
Of course, one thing they had then that we do have now is an America deeply divided and shouting at one another. Gee, lucky us.
