Truth to Power

A master of saying nothing

Iraq is ‘statistically’ no safer today than after Saddam fell: Rumsfeld

LONDON (AFP) – Iraq is “statistically” no safer today than it was after Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein was overthrown, US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said.

Asked on BBC television whether Iraq was safer since the US-led invasion ended with the ouster of Saddam in April 2003, Rumsfeld replied: “Well, statistically no. But clearly it has been getting better as we’ve gone along.”</i>

Why do papers continue to print the blatherings of this nut without saying boo? WTF does “statistically” mean? Lets see, insurgent activity is going full speed, they are pumping less oil than before the war, still suffering from power and water shortages, and it costs $35,000 to go the six miles from the airport to the Green Zone. Nice “statistics”, you butcher.
