Dear God no! Von Iva’s incredibly inane self-titled EP sounds like the combination of garage-rock’s prime directive of stupidity and dance-rock’s preening artifice. The disco beats are tired, folks, and the soulful female vocals demanding that we “feel it!” (what… boredom?) are as unnecessary as a band who feels they “have something to say” about the world needing love. What the music industry needs is fewer derivative bands lazily coasting by on sex appeal. Avoiding this disc will allow you to enjoy nineteen more minutes of uncrapified existence than I have … can I recommend a Jens Lekman EP instead?
