Bush thinks insurgents need more targets

Bush set to announce 20K troop surge in Iraq

WASHINGTON – Although nothing is final until President Bush puts his stamp on it, administration officials tell NBC News the president has all but decided on a temporary surge of additional American forces into Iraq in an effort to bring sectarian violence in Baghdad under control.

While no one is talking specific numbers, military officials believe it would involve some 20,000 additional soldiers and Marines. </i>

And gee, whatta surprise, spineless Democrats fall right in line:

Some Democrats could support Bush troop increase, NYT to report

Some key Senate Democrats say they could support a short-term increase in American troop levels in Iraq, a stance that reflects division with the party and could provide an opening for President Bush as he prepares to announce his plan for Iraq as early as next week, the NEW YORK TIMES reports in Thursday’s papers.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), incoming Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and incoming House Intelligence Committee Chairman Silvestre Reyes (D-Texas) have all expressed varying degrees of support for increased troops, which they believe will help to stabilize the country and bring the overall contingent of US troops home faster.</i>

At what point will these gutless Democrats realize they won? You’re the majority party now- largely because this nation wants the troops home- NOW. So do it- cut the funding, use whats left in the budget to load ‘em into airplanes (sitting up this time) and get them back to their lives, and us out of Iraq and Afghanistan.
