Pope condemns gay-friendly British laws ahead of visit

Pope Benedict XVI chided Britain for its gay-friendly laws on Monday as he confirmed plans to visit the country for the first time as head of the Roman Catholic Church.

“Your country is well known for its firm commitment to equality of opportunity,” the pope said in a letter to the bishops of England and Wales.

However, “the effect of some of the legislation designed to achieve this goal has been to impose unjust limitations on the freedom of religious communities to act in accordance with their beliefs,” he wrote.

Observers said the pontiff was referring to legislation that took effect on January 1, 2009, preventing adoption agencies – including Catholic ones – from discriminating against gay couples.</em>

God forbid, apparently, that two people of the same sex want to adopt and love a child. Far better to molest them, and then lie about it as official doctrine, see?
