Smash Mouth featuring Barry Williams

“Sunshine Day”

With a series of snappy positive hits in their back pocket, Smash Mouth today releases another one: “Sunshine Day.” First recorded in 1973 by The Brady Bunch Kids for The Brady Bunch Season 4 episode “Amateur Nite,” the new track features some vocals by Barry Williams, the original Greg Brady.

The band is Michael Klooster (keyboards), Randy Cooke (drums, percussion), Sean Hurwitz (guitar), Zach Goode (lead vocals), and original Smash Mouth member Paul DeLisle (bass), who, like most latchkey kids of a certain age, remembers that 1973 episode of The Brady Bunch fondly.

From the shared verses to Bobby Brady’s psychedelic bridge, this is THEE best _Brady Bunch song in the second-best Brady Bunch episode ever (the best being when Greg surfs in Hawaii). In our version, when Barry Williams comes in on the second verse… my spirit soars, and I just want to JUMP UP AND SHOUT!! I love it so much. Barry Williams RULES and I am the #1 Brady fan in the world. What a thrill and huge honor._”

Barry Williams is a happy participant and Smash Mouth fan since “before they had hits.” The lyric video produced by Randy Cooke includes “Special thanks to Greg Brady himself, Barry Williams, for his very groovy 2nd verse!” Barry adds, “With thanks to the band, at last at last… ‘SUNSHINE DAY’ is cool!

“Sunshine Day” follows the band’s tune “Ride On,” released on April 12. Find Smash Mouth at a show near you on their Ride On Tour at the band’s website.
