“Be Mine”

Spin World Records

Straight out of the Rust Belt, pop-punk, post-grunge, dark-pop trio Yellow No. 5 releases their new single, “Be Mine,” a song revealing the psychological aftermath of a breakup, when you feel like you’ve just been punched in the emotional solar plexus.

“Be Mine” traces a messy emotional spiral—accusation colliding with self‑reflection, denial pushing up against accountability. The narrator is fully aware of their own flaws, and the song never tries to soften that truth. Instead, it embraces contradiction: feelings of yearning tangled with bitterness, intimacy warped into blame, and the unsettling realization that choosing something can still leave lasting damage. Rather than offering catharsis or closure, the track sits firmly in the discomfort zone.

Made up of Jeremy Lucas (guitar, vocals), Zach Reeder (drums, backing vocals), and Nick Harris (bass, backing vocals), Yellow No. 5 is a touring machine with an ever-expanding footprint that includes the West Coast, Midwest, East Coast, Southwest, and Canada.

Yellow No. 5 has shared the stage with artists such as Sponge, Bobaflex, Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, Tantric, Stroke 9, Smile Empty Soul, Hit the Lights, Mushroomhead, Donnie Vie, and Scotty Austin.

Yellow No. 5 sets off on their “Spring of ‘26 Tour” on March 20, followed by their (soon to be announced) “May in the Midwest Tour.”

“Be Mine” opens on a raw, grimy guitar flowing into a percussion-heavy intro topped by muscular, grunge-flavored textures that exude definite edges of delicious pop-punk. The blend of grunge and pop-punk infuses the tune with beaucoup sonic gusto. Lucas’ vocals imbue the lyrics with a combination of aching regret, longing, and simmering resentment. The outro to the song is grand, summoning up suggestions of Fall Out Boy at their peak, before they went all glitz-pop.

On “Be Mine,” Yellow No. 5 doubles the oomph factor with a massive, hard-hitting rhythm and yet never sacrifices melodic immediacy.
