The Neckbones

Souls on Fire

Fat Possum

The Neckbones are rude, crude, and proudly socially unacceptable. Check out “Crack Whore Blues” – one raunchy, sleazy anthem if I’ve ever heard one. If these guys own any records other than the New York Dolls and Flamin’ Groovies, it’s only because they haven’t be able to sell them yet. This record is great. Wailing guitars, gonzo drumming, and perfect Stiv Bators/David Johansen vocals.

The basic theme of the record is the standard “I’m Young, I’m Bummed, and I’m High.” But these guys do it so well, it doesn’t sound like a put-on. They want to have a good time. And if you don’t like it, tough. Fat Possum Records, P.O Box 1923, Oxford, MS 38655-1923
