The Sound of the Crowd

we should have a great debate

But I’m not sure this was it. Just watched the televised version of the Dean/Nader debate I wrote about a couple days ago.

I still feel Dean won, but that wasn’t because he was getting off such great shots–although he had a couple of good ones, and made me miss him in the spotlight. But because Nader is such a wet blanket.

It did make me see an upside to Nader’s remaining on the ballot, though: The man makes Kerry look fun–and I was worried about that after watching him and Edwards on 60 Minutes tonight. His VP nom and their wives seemed to push him off the screen. But if Kerry’s smart he’ll insist on letting Nader into the debates, because if anyone will scare the Democratic base more than Bush will, it’s Nader.

He is what reporters decided Gore was in 2000–the smartest kid in the class that nobody likes –but without the people skills or redeeming sense of humor. Worst of all, he comes off like a drunk less coherent than Courtney Love.
