Things in my own past
Hugely enthusiastic prat Aamer and his gang of irrepressible scamps reached Information Society on their list of Bands to Reunite tonight. It was one of the better ones, too, despite the fact that no actual performance reunion resulted.
As they candidly (and charmingly) admitted, that might have been for the best. Judging from my memories of InfoSoc TV appearances in the ’80s, live was not their friend. A couple of great albums with some good singles, though.
Of course, it didn’t help them live that lead singer Kurt used to insist on doing a lot of performances on roller skates. Which is challenging even if you’re a much stronger singer. Kurt finally chose not to participate in this reunion, proving once again that the more I like a band, the less likely they are to once again take the stage.
Oh sure, they can facilitate a Vixen or Scandal reunion. But InfoSoc or, god forbid, ABC? Nah. Still, it seemed as though the show was able to settle some long-simmering tension between the other members of the group, and they all came off (even Kurt) as smart, reasonably good people.
